About

Alison Duquette is a Canadian artist from Toronto, based near Frankfurt, Germany.

She received her BFA with a major in Drawing & Painting and a minor in History of Art from OCAD University, where she specialised in oil and watercolour painting. She subsequently received a Master’s Degree (MLitt with Merit) in History of Art, Arts of Europe, from the University of Glasgow.

Before moving to Germany, she lived and worked in London, UK, as a Specialist in the European Sculpture and Works of Art department at Sotheby’s, and later, as a Creative Researcher at AMV BBDO. Research plays an essential role in her creative process, informing her work both technically and conceptually.

Her lifelong passion for painting drew her to working full time in the studio. She balances the demands of parenthood with the discipline of painting, and finds inspiration in the joys and challenges of raising children abroad.

Her work explores themes of memory, anxiety, isolation, and the contrast and connection between the mental and the physical experience of existing in reality.
